50 years ago (OMG) I would coach my first tennis t 50 years ago (OMG) I would coach my first tennis team in the Spring of 1974 at Saratoga High School. We played at the East Side Rec. A terrific group. Below kneeling L-R. Rick Harwood, John Phillips, Denise Deutsch , David Deutsch, Diane Carr and Scott Barton. Standing, yes that is Coach Rich Johns, Jeff Wait, Brad Taylor, Jim Clements (?), Bob Tarrant, Bill Arpey and Bruce Clements. We were all fortunate to find each other at that specific time in our lives. This group will always be very special to me.

I would certainly hope not since this has happened in other schools as well as colleges. Women's voices need to be louder and more persistent. Hope it happens!" SF HERE ARE EXCERPTS OF THE ARTICLE Title: SARATOGA SCHOOLS HAS GOTTEN FRIENDLY ADVICE RATHER THAN SERIOUS CRITICISM For a report purported to provide critical oversight of the Saratoga Springs City School District’s embattled high school athletics program, the 69-page analysis completed by the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference contains an awful lot of compliments. “The school is commended for keeping the athletic mission statement and core values current by updating them recently,” some of the flattery reads. “The athletic program benefits from strong leadership and well-managed resources,” notes the report, which was released June 6 and commissioned by the district last year. A friendly reading of such plaudits could be that the school district’s athletics department is doing an amazing job. But in the face of serious allegations still being investigated by the state to do with long-standing abusive coaching practices in several sports – but predominantly girls’ track and cross country – the commendations make the report appear toothless. But to this point the district has largely been exonerated by self-appointed arbitrators. So as strategies are mulled and changes implemented based on friendly advice, you’ll excuse any member of the public who isn’t exactly inundating the district with lavish praise.

And I’m in grade 8. You came into my school on May 17 and you were the best speaker we have ever had. Walking into the lesson. I thought it was just going to be like all of the other speakers before. They never tried to relate to us. To make us feel included and treat us like we were people. I was so moved at the part where the person was talking about being bullied in school. I’m being bullied for my weight and the way I look. So it meant so much. Thank you. I was also moved by the fact that you spoke about “Out of My Mind”. That book is one of my comfort books because it helps me to look into other peoples’ perspectives. So thank you. Thank you for hearing and feeling with us. And for being inclusive.
