Jenna Stiansen

"I enjoy volunteering at the Senior Citizens Center of Saratoga Springs."

My name is Jenna Stiansen and I am a senior at Saratoga Springs High School. I am the treasurer for both National Honor Society and Key Club. I swim on the Saratoga Girls’ Varsity Swim and Dive team and on the Saratoga Springs Regional YMCA Stingrays Swim Team.

How did you meet Coach Rich Johns?
I first met Coach Johns in sixth grade; he was my social studies teacher. I knew a lot about Coach Johns because my brother had him two years earlier. I was lucky to have Coach Johns before he retired!

How did you hear about Act With Respect Always?
I was Coach Johns’ first group of students he talked to about his mission. I ordered the Act With Respect Always tee shirt right away. I was excited to be one of the first students to show off his message.

How has the Act With Respect Alway mission effected you personally?
Act With Respect Always is constantly on my mind when I am with my team, family, friends, and peers. It is important to treat everyone equally. As a team captain, I try to encourage my younger teammates to respect the other team, coaches, teammates, and their family. Not only did I learn about respect through Coach Johns, but also I learned the importance of the responsibility for my actions.

Please share with us how you have, or will in the future “Pay it Forward”
As treasurer of National Honor Society and Key Club, I Pay it Forward by volunteering in my community. I enjoy volunteering at the Senior Citizens Center of Saratoga Springs, St. Clements’s Church, and Saratoga Springs High School. As a team captain, I Pay It Forward by exemplifying respect and commitment to swimming that inspires the younger swimmers.

How would you describe the Act With Respect Always mission to others?
I would describe the Act With Respect Always mission to others as a movement to see how actions and judgment can affect others.

Would you recommend Rich to speak about Respect to others?
Absolutely! It is important for everyone to treat others with respect; everyone should hear his message.
