A spotlight of inviduals from schools, communities, and from around the world who have taken it upon themselves to "pay it forward" as AWRA Ambassadors. They are vital role models in our society, we humbly thank you, and respect you!Molly Corcoran
"I plan to spread the message of the AWRA with me at whatever college I end up attending"My name is Molly Corcoran, and I am currently a senior at Saratoga Springs High School. I have been a member of the Saratoga varsity tennis team for the last three years. Off the court, I am a member of the International History Club and am the treasurer of Latin Club. I also coach the future generation of kids the fundamentals of tennis at the Saratoga YMCA.
How did you meet Coach Rich Johns?
Coach Johns is my mom’s second cousin, and I have known Coach since birth. Coach Johns has always instilled in me the values of the Act With Respect Always program throughout the years. I have been blessed to see Coach Johns at the High School tennis courts over the past three years where he always gives us helpful advice on our play and what we can do to improve to make our playing better.
How did you hear about Act With Respect Always?
I first saw the Act With Respect Always presentation when I was in 6th grade at Maple Avenue Middle School. I also see the AWRA signs everywhere throughout our community and stickers on the backs of cars. Coach Johns has always spoken frequently with the tennis teams over the past several years expounding the values of his program and teaching us why AWRA is so important.
How has the Act With Respect Alway mission affected you personally?
The Act With Respect Always mission has impacted me in so many ways. Every night I look back on my day and think about what my 99% was. I think about what my 1% was and how I can improve that for the next day. I often wear my AWRA wristband and if someone asks me what the meaning behind the band is, I share with them the main message of the program.
Please share with us how you have, or will in the future “Pay it Forward”
The Act With Respect program has inspired me to get more involved in my community by “Paying it Forward.” For the past 6 years during the winter months, I help out at a local church and give food to the less fortunate. I plan to spread the message of the Act With Respect Always program with me at whatever college I end up attending.
How would you describe the Act With Respect Always mission to others?
I would describe the Act With Respect Always mission to others as a program that truly tries to make you the best version of yourself. Coach Johns understands that not every day you are 99%, but he wants you to grow every day to make yourself better while also helping others be better. Coach’s program also has taught me and my team that you never truly know what someone is going through so, you always have to be respectful and kind to others.
Would you recommend Rich to speak about Respect to others?
I would totally recommend Rich to speak about his program with others. His program has made such a huge impact on our community and me. He has made me realize the importance of “Paying it Forward” in my community. Every time I saw Coach at practice, I looked forward to him sharing his kind words with the team. I believe that everyone should hear at least one of his speeches.
